The Oder marshes

The Oder marshes, the flat flooding region of the Oder between Bad Freienwalde and Frankfurt/Oder is one of the most scarcely populated regions in Germany. The bordering town of Frankfurt has one of the largest medieval city halls in Germany and houses the European University Viadrina. The ironworks city located 20 km to the south of Frankfurt is an interesting sample of GDR urban landscaping around an industrial complex – the latter of which belonged to the Indian-Luxembourg Arcelor-Mittal Group.
