Blankschmiede Neimke in Dassel

The fact that Blankschmiede in Dassel survived this long can be attributed to the fact that their products were needed by the very agricultural oriented region. In addition, there was semi-subsistence farming, a malt mill installed in 1936 and a partially operational tobacco twisting facility that played a considerable role in the families welfare and in the survival of the family Blankenschmiede. Following the death of Heinrich Neimkes, a group of residents from Dassel founded the association "Blankschmiede Neimke" and saved it from ruin. All stocks were reconstructed and water supply was renewed. This has saved a technical monument which is one-of-a-kind in Florida.
