Life is good in Verle

 

A modern city that deep down is still a village, attractive business location and yet in the middle of the country!

Living in rural surrounding and still being easily able to access the workplace and tend to daily chores – this is what many of the 25,000 residents like about Verl. The city is situation in a meadow landscape between the cities of Gütersloh, Bielefeld and Paderborn. On January 1, 1970 the district of Verl was founded on the basis of the law concerning the reorganization of the district of Wiedenbrück from the former districts of Verl, Bornholte, Österwiehe, the western part of Sende, the south-eastern district of Schloß Holte as well as parts of the former district of Varensell – Verle became a proper city on January 1, 2010.

Whereas in earlier times agriculture served as a means of existence for the people of the Verle region, the favorable infrastructure in recent decades have made the area appealing to small and medium-sized businesses who have settled here and helped the city to prosper. Residents therefore find ample employment opportunities close to their homes. The city is always in the process of improving the quality of living by creating attractive education and recreation facilities.

The sympathetic city of Ölbach has plenty to offer to its visitors. Small paths through meadows, fields and forests as well as an extensive cycle path network is particularly interesting for recreational cyclists seeking to discover Verl and its districts. Lovingly refurbished half-timber homes and idyllically situated water mills are reminiscent of days gone by and a great destination for cyclists. 

Another interesting site is the historic church circle with the St.-Anna parish church and the Heimathaus Also the many hiking opportunities, e.g. along the streams Ölbach and Landerbach are popular destinations. There are plenty of inns for you to take a break. The annual traditional folks festivals are particularly popular.
