The former capital of the dukedom of Saxony-Gotha with its historical buildings has something to suit every taste. Whether on your own or with a tour group around the city – one can still feel that same flair of yesteryear. Gotha was first mentioned in the year 775. The splendidly restored town houses with their Baroque entrances on the main market and the historic city hall, a representative renaissance building, which as built in 1567-74 is still reminiscent of the prosperity of years gone by.
