The Hanseatic city of Bremen, German's second largest port city and center of food import (coffee, wheat), is of Germany's larger cities the coziest one. Locals like to call it the "village with street cars". Besides the city center with its collection of historic buildings from the city hall to the cathedral, Bremen has beautiful residential areas with special Wilhelminian-style architecture. A particularly lively quarter is Ostertor in the east of the city.
