Alpine Foothills

An touristic highlight is the access road to the Alps near Füssen, with its fairytale castles Hohenschwangau and most particularly, Neuschwanstein. This palace which was built on the basis of a theater decorator's design in the 19th century by the eccentric Bavarian King Ludwig II  is one of Germany's most frequented sites. The lakes in the Alpine foothills are situated in front of a massive mountain scene.
